I just discovered the Huffington Post. I think it may be Biased?
My comment regarding the Barbara Streisand piece was deleted. This is what is stated;
"Hey weren't you in "Meet the Fockers" the sequel to "Meet the parents"? Wow that was a great movie. And isn't your husband the guy who punches people? Maybe you should stick to making mediocre movies, nobody wants your opinions anyway!"
I am not sure why they didn't publish that one?
Just take it easy on Sarah Palin!
There were points at which Biden clearly was deceptive or just wrong;
1) Biden's attacks on drilling were misleading. He stated we only have 3% of the world reserves and that we use 25% of the worlds production, so it sounds like there is a 22% deficit. Well he is mixing apples and oranges the total worlds reserves aren't the same thing as production. In reality 3% of the world's oil reserves is more than 25% of production. Much more. I do agree both parties need to look at drilling and clean coal as temporary measures to get us to carbon neutral technologies.
2) The whole disagreeing with the war thing. He voted for the war, now he is against it. This was an issue for Hillary.
3) Dick Cheney is the worst VP ever. WRONG! I think it is obviously Arron Burr. He was tried for treason after trying to split Kentucky into an independent nation and he shot Hamilton in a duel. Or maybe it cold be VP Breckenridge, who became a Confederate general after he was VP.
I think we are seeing allot of misdirected anger at Sarah Palin. There is allot of anger about the past 8 years and for some reason it has all been unleashed on Sarah Palin. A prime example of this is Linsey Lohan is a critic of her. What the hell happened to this country when we started caring what Linsey Lohan or for that matter Rosie O'Donnel has to say?

Why I donated money to McCain
I have never donated money to any political candidate ever in my life, but after Barrack Hussein Obama said he would use public financing for the election, but then became the first Presidential candidate to back out of that system since it was created, I got pissed! The guy already lied during the campaign. It's on! So I have donated a crap load of money to McCain. I will probably donate more, however, because McCain is following the rules he can't accept any more public donations to be used in the General election after September 3rd. While Hussein Obama can get all the money he wants and swamp McCain. Really this isn't a fair fight. So I have given as much money as I could right now to McCain. I think other people should also. Even better buy a t-shirt or Bumper sticker.

I really don't belive Hillary supports Obama
Deep down she must be feeling allot of resentment towards Barrack Hussein Obama. She has way more experience, more votes, and did better than he did in the numerous debates. I think she was a better choice for the Democrats for this November. Also, Joe Biden? What the hell are they thinking? He is a jerk! He has run for president at least two times that I can remember and both times he said some stupid stuff that ended up with him dropping out of the race. I think they would have been better off with a nicer and less controversial pick like either of the last two Governors of Virginia, Kaine and Warner. They are both pretty good guys and have both done good jobs as Governor of the Commonwealth.

Obama's glaring lack of experience
Kennedy had served a full term in the Senate as well as 5 years in Congress and served in WWII. Roosevelt had been Secretary of the Navy, Vice President, Governor of New York, a Spanish American War veteran, plus he held a number of other offices prior to his Presidency.
Obama served 6 years in the Illinois State Senate and Currently less than 4 years in the US Senate. More than two of those years in the US Senate have been spent running for President.
The only two presidents that I can find with less experience in elected office were Dwight Eisenhower and Grant. However, both had been commanding generals of victorious armies of millions of people.
So, my question is if you ignored the hype, the media coverage, the political parties and looked at two generic candidates. One who was a war hero and had served in office for almost 30 years and one who had only served in national office for two years before running for President, who would you vote for. I think people need to wake up and start backing the guy with some experience regardless if you agree with every single one of his policies. Just like Hillary Clinton said "you need someone who will be ready to be President on day one". It still boggles my mind that she didn't win the nomination! I may not like her, but she is obviously more qualified and rational.

Obama wants to stop manned space flight!
Wouldn't it be easier to cut something like Social Security or medicare that we spend over 60% of our budget on. NASA's budget is less than 1% of the total U.S. budget. I guess that there are more poor people than scientists and engineers out there who vote.

Honestly, does McCain seem more like a robot now?
It is this sense of what drives Americans that makes me long for the days that fewer people were able to vote and make me agree more with the beliefs of Alexander Hamilton who didn't trust the populace to make educated decisions.
Regardless of my own feelings on many Americans, it always seems that once Presidential candidates get into a certain stage in the campaign they become dull and almost Robot like. It happened to Bob Dole and Al Gore as well as John Kerry. Well I guess The last two were always kind of dull. At least Bob Dole is still getting it on.

The reason this is funny is because it is true.

For some reason the media appears to be in love with this guy? I am not the only one to notice this of course. Thus far this year the Onion and Saturday Night Live have poked fun at the media bias toward Obama over Hillary Clinton and John McCain. (see Saturday Night Live Video) That should tell you something, it wouldn't be funny if it wasn't true.
Also i love the fact that the Onion calls their coverage of the presidential race the "WAR FOR THE WHITE HOUSE" and has an exploding White House and fighter jets.Thursday, July 17, 2008
Obama on Iraq and the consiquences of withdrawl

Mr. Obama has said that he was against the war from the beginning. This is true. This stance gained him allot of support against Hillary Clinton who had voted to go to war. Even Hillary Clinton in the primary campaign took a more measured and moderate stance on pulling out of Iraq over time, not a sudden withdrawal. She had the sense to realize that though many people may want us out of Iraq it serves little purpose other than to placate a portion of the electorate. The consequences of pulling out of Iraq without a stable government and society will be disastrous for the people of Iraq and the US for years to come.
A hasty withdrawal from Iraq will most assuredly mean increased and emboldened Iranian influence and interference into Iraqi politics and society. This will most likely mean increased instability and violence thus leading to more deaths and refugees. The refugees will then pour into neighboring countries like Jordan that is already overwhelmed with refugees from Palestine and Iraq. These neighboring countries will then be made unstable and the refugee camps will become breading grounds for anti-Americanism and terrorism.
Also, Al'qeda would then also be emboldened and reinvigorated by victory over the American paper tiger. With a perceived U.S. defeat in Iraq and Osama Bin Laden still safe in the hills of Pakistan we will have suffered a foreign relations nightmare that will take years to overcome.
I feel that we stand at a crossroads in our history. We have been the most powerful nation on Earth since the Second World War and our prominence has been growing since the McKinley administration. Although, now we appear to be on the decline. I truly believe that our decline can be avoided if we take action now and the first step is to stabilize Iraq and Afghanistan with some semblance of democracy. If Mr. Obama succeeds in winning the presidency and withdrawing our troops from both countries prematurely the people of Iraq will suffer the same fate as those of Cambodia, Vietnam, and Laos and our position on the world stage will be greatly diminished.
Over the next couple of days Barack Hussain Obama will be visiting Iraq on a fact finding mission. Interesting he has had some much to say about the topic over the last 4 years but not once been there? Oh that's right he has been to busy running for President!

I have to give Obama some credit for taking on Jesse jackson.
When I heard this I wondered, what had Obama said about black fathers that was so controversial?(see story) Well here is some of the quote;
" They have abandoned their responsibilities, acting like boys instead of men. And the foundations of our families are weaker because of it,... A lot of children don't get those chances. There is no margin for error in their lives,.... I resolved many years ago that it was my obligation to break the cycle -- that if I could be anything in life, I would be a good father to my girls"
Well that seemed really un-controversial to me? A black man taking on his own community regarding a short-cumming that affects the community as a whole. It is very similar to the comments that Bill Cosby had made a few years ago. Somebody has a problem with dead-beat dads? Why is that controversial? I would applaud Obama for taking on the problems within the black community and realizing that many of these problems are caused from within the black community not from white oppression as Mr. Jackson portrays.
Also, Jesse Jackson hating the fact that Obama "was talking down to back people" is very ironic to me considering Jesse Jackson has been the 'representative" of the black community for years, but fathered an illegitimate child. That guy is a joke. Obama has been smart to distance himself from Jackson and Sharpton. The white community will be much more accepting of him the farther away he gets "traditional' black leaders.

McCain loss for words! Can the Republicans screw up any worse?
Lets be honest here, there is still quite a bit of racism in this country from many groups and for a Black man to be winning the Presidential race in a country where segregation was occurring just 30-40 years ago is amazing. Is it that Americans have become less racist? or is it that enough people are willing to overlook race because the Republicans have become too intertwined with the Christian right and the mistakes of the Bush administration? I personally think it is the second option.
I think Obama, though he may have some good ideas, isn't qualified to be President. I think he has allot more hype and a much better run campaign than McCain behind his success.
The Kenyans were right when they said only Obama can beat Obama.

Michelle Obama, Racist? the "Whitey' comment
Regardless of what I thought about the primary race I hadn't really begun to look into Obama until a couple of months ago. In doing so I began to read rumors regarding Michelle Obama. Now I know what you are saying rumors revolving around Obama most of them are vicious lies! For example he is Muslim. I also completely agree with your outrage most of them are vicious lies. However, many of them are based in some fact or half truths. One of these half truths would be the Muslim rumor example; Mr. Obama is a Christian (though from a dubious church) although his father was a Muslim, his name is Muslim, and he has Muslim relatives.
However, the interesting thing about the rumors is the public's willingness to believe them. I feel this has allot to do with doubts about the character and beliefs of Barack Hussain Obama and his wife Michelle. Some of the more interesting rumors revolve around Michelle Obama's supposed "Whitey" comments. So far this has proved to be completely untrue, although why would people even think this story would be true? Through some research I have came across two reasons on why the public would think this was a possible quote from Michelle Obama;
1) The Obama's being influential black leaders in Chicago have some tie to Minister Louis Farrakhan, leader of the Nation of Islam. The minister is know for racist and anti-Semitic views. Below is a photo of Michelle Obama and Minister Farrakhan's wife.

2) Michelle Obama's Senior thesis at Princeton is chuck full of anti-white phrases and ideals. This thesis was asked not to be released to the public until after the Election. However some of it has been released. Snoops.com has the scoop on the Thesis. You can read the Thesis for yourself here. part 1 , 2, 3 , 4
So it appears to me that the real issue here isn't the rumors surrounding the Obama's but why the public would believe such things to be true. The public isn't comfortable with the character and views of the couple.

Is Odinga of Kenya Obama's cousin?
So why does it matter that a leader of a country whose opposition to a recent election plunged a country into chaos for months supports an American presidential candidate? Allot actually. Mr Odinga has supposedly in 2007 signed a secret memorandum of understanding with the National Muslim Leaders Forum, (see story)NAMLEF. Kenyan Muslim leaders denied that the MOU promised to introduce Sharia for Muslims if it won elections, but said its deal with the Orange Democratic Movement was to end the current discrimination against Muslims. Again who knows if that is true also. African politics is full of accusations and rumors. The only thing I do know is true is that odinga named one of his sons after Fidel Castro.

Bumper stickers as an indicator in the 08' Presidential election
Noticing this discrepancy I searched online for bumper stickers from both sides. The interesting thing is that I found numerous sites giving away Obama bumper stickers and only a few sites selling McCain bumper stickers. I have also seen tables at local events handing out Obama stickers, signs, and t-shirts and never a table for McCain.
This appears not to be just about bumper stickers, it appears to be indicative of the two campaigns in general. Obama seems to be everywhere, while McCain seems to be only mentioned or seen occasionally. There are Obama songs, stickers, signs, videos, dancing girls, news stories, and interviews with his wife on the View, but there is never anything on McCain! Maybe it is because I live in a very Democratic area? or maybe it is that Obama has much more money or a larger campaign staff of volunteers? I am not sure what the reason for the discrepancy is, but I do know one thing and that is if the McCain camp wants to win this election they better get more motivated and get out there! They may have less money in this election, but money doesn't necessarily win elections. (Example Hilliary Clinton vs. Obama in Pennsylvania during the primaries. He out spent her by 2 to 1 but she beat him by 10% of the vote)
Maybe I should do a scientific study of bumper stickers and take a random sampling of stickers observed Obama vs. McCain, similar to a bird or animal study where they count the number of a species in a given area at a given time? I am not sure what the control would be for that type of study?

The Supreme Court overturns DC's gun ban!!
The gun ban was passed in the early 1970's and then later the city was the murder capitol of the U.S. sometime in the 1980's and or 1990's. All of this took place while just a short walk across the river in Virginia there were very liberal gun laws and very low crime.
I think it should be obvious that violence and crime have more to do with economics and education than accessibility to guns. Therefore, I feel the gun ban was just a ploy by the DC government to let the people of DC think they were doing something to solve the crime problem. When in reality they were just pushing their citizens further down the road to serfdom.
What makes me nervous about the decision is that it was barely a majority of the Supreme court found in favor of striking down the ban. Four of them thought the ban was within the bounds of the Constitution. I think Madison might be uneasy in his grave.
I have had this argument before with my liberal colleagues before; that the brilliance behind our system of government and thus our Constitution is the division of powers was devised in order to keep no one group from gaining too much power. Madison and Jefferson both brilliantly injected these checks and balances into the document in order to stem any future rise of tyranny. The right to bare arms was a way of giving the power of revolution to the citizens if they felt they were being oppressed. Remember it specifically states in the Declaration of Independence that the people have the right to rebel if they are being oppressed.
We may have no need to use the 2nd amendment to rise up in open rebellion currently, but we may someday. Just as I feel no need to exercise my freedom of religion every Sunday, but I may someday. It is nice to know that our government's power has limits and a well written piece of parchment housed only a few blocks from my office here in DC is limiting potential tyrants today.
Obama's double standard
"The point I was making was not that my grandmother harbors any racial animosity, but that she is a typical white person. If she sees somebody on the street that she doesn't know - there's a reaction in her that's been bred into our experiences that don't go away and sometimes come out in the wrong way and that's just the nature of race in our society."
Now just switch out the the term White for Black and make the quote attributed to any White politician. What do you think the reaction of the voting public would be? I think there would be allot of heated discussion and maybe the candidate would be asked to withdraw from the race.
Here is the story from the National Review.

Obama Hype is everywhere!
This is just anicdotal evidence, but it would be interesting to see if this increased press coverage for Obama vs McCain is true. Maybe keep tabs of the number of times Obama and McCain's names are used during a given broadcast over a number of days. I guess that is the scientist in me overpowering the blogger.
I did do a search for the phrase "Obama Hype" the other day and I cam accross this brilliant picture. I think it is a great parady of the Obama "hope" poster.

Obama’s decision not to use public campaign funds
Does this piss anyone else off? The guy pledges to be a reformer and to use public funds just as every other presidential candidate since Watergate, but now changes his mind! He has already pulled back on a campaign promise। Effectively he is going to buy the election. Not a good president to start. Even Russ Finegold who is a democrat, said this was a bad idea and condemned it.
The thing I find the funniest is when all of the democrat talking heads get on TV they say Obama is using “public funding” that the public is funding his campaign. This is a complete play on words to make it seem that he is staying within his pledge to stay within the campaign regulations.
How to jump start the economy with a simple tax code change. 6/7/2008
Therefore I am proposing a simple yet effective change to the nation’s tax code; to make the first $10,000 of small business income tax deductible।
This tax deduction would be an automatic incentive for people on the fence or dreaming about opening up a small business। It would be $10,000 of income free of federal taxes! The deduction would encourage people to start and maintain small businesses, not only boosting their own income, but also creating new jobs and income streams for local economies.
If our government wants to fix the economy encourage people to expand it through real incentives, not by giving people money to waste on new flat screen TVs and credit card debt.

Pulling out of Iraq
Well I agree with them on the fact that it wasn’t a good idea that we invaded Iraq and I agree with them we were misled by the Government as a whole. However, we can’t change the past. The only thing we can do is try and make the future better and I feel that destroying a country and sending it into chaos then leaving them to rebuild and fend for themselves would be a greater injustice than the war itself.
If we end up pulling out of Iraq if Barrack Hussein Obama wins then I believe many thousands more will die than if we had stayed.
If we stay or leave neither is the best position to be in, but sometimes you have to choose the lesser of two evils. Staying and fixing our problem is the not only the lesser of two evils, but the right thing to do for the people whose lives we turned upside down.
